leave the bandage alone (at first)
Once you have your fresh ink, you will want to leave the bandage on — usually for a few hours. Don’t rush it.

wash it + dry it right
When it’s time, wash with warm water and mild, unscented soap. No scrubbing. No fancy products. Pat it dry with something clean. No bathroom floor towels.

moisturize — but don’t overdo it
Use a light layer of unscented ointment or lotion. Too much = suffocated tattoo.

hands off
No picking. No scratching. No peeling that flake that really looks like it wants to come off.

keep it out of the sun
Your tattoo isn’t ready for sunbathing. Cover it up or stay in the shade until it’s healed.

no soaking
No pools, hot tubs, baths — stick to showers until it’s fully healed.
